Secure Healthcare Network in 2023

Make it in time to protect unsecured company networks in hospitals.

The end of the year was intense in healthcare – numerous hospitals in Poland deployed NACVIEW to make their company network more resistant to cyberattacks.

The safety of patients depends on life support working systems or devices monitoring their health or keeping them alive. Therefore, in such places like hospitals, there should be no room for dilemmas. And the entire IT environment should be secured properly, audited, improved and modernized every year.

Cardiogram

Before the flat line signal

If the IT security level could be measured with a cardiometer then probably in many entities the pulse would be barely felt and breathing would be slowed down. Unless there have been an effective hackering attack which could have resulted in the entire IT network come to a standstill, this situation can be efficiently and quickly resolved.

One of the elements of a comprehensive approach to cybersecurity is the access of control to the company network. Without the implementation of the NAC solution, it is difficult to effectively protect the network against connecting unknown and potentially compromised endpoints. It is also difficult to react immediately and effectively to incidents, e.g., when an endpoint is compromised by downloading a malicious file from the Internet. Company networks that lack segmentation are particularly vulnerable because even one compromised endpoint can infect all others. That is why it is so important to ensure that the network is divided into smaller parts before implementing NAC or planned as part of the implementation of network access control - both elements can be efficiently planned and combined.

From our experience, full implementation of the NACVIEW system in a medium-sized hospital (about 1,500 endpoints and about 50 network devices) can be performed even within two weeks (including tests and post-implementation documentation).

That is why we encourage acting before the flat line signal happens - a detailed analysis, good implementation plan and close cooperation, all can lead to success. Over 8 years of experience in cooperation with hospitals allows us not only to effectively implement access controls but also to support administrators in their work by integrating with dedicated systems, e.g. HIS.

Of course, each entity is different and has different network equipment, systems and different structure. Therefore, before choosing the final solution and concept, we encourage you to contact us.
